About this Event
Meet the Friends of Short Hills Park for a guided bird hike. We should see a great variety of birds! Guided walks will be held at 7:30 and 9:30am, starting at the Pelham Road parking lot. Bring binoculars and wear warm, layered clothing and sturdy footwear for a 3km hike with steep uphill sections. All ages are welcome; 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We'll probably see fewer bird species, but our wintering birds will be settling in. Some birds I expect to see:
- ruby-crowned kinglet
- eastern bluebird
- american robin
- song sparrow
- dark-eyed junco
- eastern bluebird
- downy woodpecker
- hairy woodpecker
- red-bellied woodpecker
- white-breasted nuthatch
- black-capped chickadee
- northern cardinal
If we're lucky:
- hermit thrush
