About this Event
GUIDE: Guiding Youth Through Intervention, Diversion, and Empowerment.
GUIDE is a free five-hour workshop for youth-serving programs. It offers participants guidance on creating supportive and inclusive environments for youth and gives participants practical tools and strategies to help youth manage crises, connect with essential support services, and strengthen mental health resilience.
GUIDE workshops are part of the Partnerships for Early Diversion of Youth (PEDY) initiative, a collaboration led by
the NYC Health Department, which unites community-based organizations, clinical
service providers, and key private and government stakeholders with a mission to reduce youth incarceration and prevent formal criminal legal involvement or arrest.
Workshop highlights include how to:
• Identify youth in distress and intervene before situations escalate.
• Use trauma-informed de-escalation strategies to build trust and reduce
confrontation.
• Recognize and address common mental health challenges in youth.
• Connect youth to community resources that address root causes of risky behavior.
