Guest Event: The Tongue Is An Eye

An evening of new music celebrating diverse musical heritage, with the live contributions of Heka, Alba Akvama, Clara Mann, Nina Winder-Lind
About this Event

Part of Theatreship's guest nights - where contemporary artists take over the ship to highlight the stories they want to tell.

Heka presents the second installation of the tongue is an eye - a night exploring songwriting as it morphs - and yet remains unchanged - across different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Every artist is asked to perform both songs in English and in their (m)other tongues, to show the connections and influences expressed through their work.
This night contributions come from the brilliant bilingual artists Nina Winder-Lind (The New Eves), Clara Mann and Alba Akvama + a few secret guests which will be announced as the date draws nearer.
Nina will bring her beautifully crafted Swedish poems and songs, Clara will be sharing much loved French versions of some of her works while Alba is presenting a Danish cover and some of highly anticipated unreleased originals.
heka closes the night with a full band performance previewing songs from her upcoming debut album as well as original material in Italian.

Theatreship is committed to broadening access to the arts - we know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If the regular ticket price is beyond what you feel able to afford for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] and we will do everything we can to help, no questions asked.

We also offer arts supporter tickets, for those that can, to pay a higher price to support the venue, the artists who perform here and subsidised tickets for others.

Due to the historic nature of the ship, we’re sorry to say there is not currently step-free access into the theatre space. We have dedicated staff on hand to help with stairs, and an onsite wheelchair once you’re inside the venue. If you have any access needs, please do e-mail us at [email protected].
