"Guerrer@s" is a cultural and educational multimedia exhibition including visual arts, music performance, dance performance and poetry to honor and celebrate women and men warriors of past, present and future. The event is free to the public and will take place Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Latinos in Action California located at 1350 Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90813.
"Guerrer@s" es una exposición multimedia cultural y educativa que incluye artes visuales, presentaciones musicales, presentaciones de danza y poesía para honrar y celebrar a las mujeres y hombres guerreras y guerreros del pasado, presente y futuro.
El evento es gratuito para el público y se llevará a cabo el Sábado 20 de Julio del 2024 de 5:00pm a 9:00pm en Latinos in Action California ubicado en 1350 Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA 90813.

Visual Artists and Performing Artists:
⚪Dr. Maha Afra – Originally from Beirut, Lebanon, an educator with a background in science and dance performance, Dr. Afra is a Professor at Cypress College. Dr. Afra will perform and choreograph a special dance performance, including students from Latinos in Action California, where she volunteers and teaches the community free dance classes twice a month. Dr. Afra is an advocate for dance and the arts, believing that they are vital educational tools for groups of people from all backgrounds, emphasizing the beauty of individual cultures and cultural diversity. She believes dance is the embodiment of freedom and expression that is meant to be experienced by all. http://www.mahaandcompany.org/
⚪Martin Espino – Maestro Espino will perform Aztec Soundbath from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Maestro Martin Espino’s native heritage is Yaqui (Sonora, Mexico) & Tepehuano (Durango, Mexico). Maestro Espino has over 50 years combined of as a master teacher, world class performer, scholarly research on indigenous Mexican music and master instrument builder. His inclusive teachings encompass children, adults and adults with special needs. https://martinespino.com/
⚪Aurelia Valencia - Self thought abstract artist originally from Huejotitan, Jalisco, Mexico was raised in Oceanside California. Valencia is an arts and equality advocate and '"Guerrer@s" exhibition co-curator. Valencia will exhibit abstract artworks, photography, and poetry as inspiration and motivation to overcome societal and personal challenges. ⚪Efren Luna – Was born in Zacatecas Mexico and raised in Long Beach California. Growing up he found inspiration through the arts that led him to pursue a career as a visual artist and educator. He is a cultural promoter and arts advocate. He is this exhibition’s curator merging the visual arts, music performance, dance performance and poetry, helping to provide a platform for expression, equality and inspiration. https://linktr.ee/ArtMusicandCultute
⚪Patricia Bonilla - Self thought visual artist, originally from El Salvador, will exhibit abstract paintings. Bonilla maintains an ongoing dedication in sharing her artistic vision and creative work ethics with school-aged children. At the University of Southern California, she was one of the first visiting artists to introduce the USC Faculty to children group art programs for ages 3-15 years old during a three-month period. Over the course of several years, she’s become known as a global artist that specializes in Modern Abstract Sculptures derived from Bronze, Aluminum and multiple found environmental materials which have been on exhibit nationally and abroad. https://artslb.org/artists/patricia-bonilla/
⚪Jose G. Cano is an arts and culture icon in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Cano has over 50 years consolidating his visual arts in different continents around the world. ⚪Esmeralda Robles - Exhibiting some of her visual art, Robles is based out of Imperial Beach, California. Her incredible art brings to life some of the most fascinating murals, rock art, airbrush work and canvas paintings with vivid detail. ⚪Nata Negrovinchi – Originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. Maestro Nata will exhibit colorful oil paintings inspired by the human form and musical instruments. He has studied art at El Camino College and South West College. Maestro Nata has exhibited at various galleries and festivals throughout California and uses art as a tool to teach and inspire future generations. https://www.facebook.com/nata.negrovinchi
⚪Yaretzi Luna – A young Mexican American, guerrera teenager, and motivated scholar with honor classes and perfect grades, has been exposed to the arts her whole life. Growing up with her artist father Efren Luna, she understands the positive value art brings to the community. Yaretzi will exhibit photographs and poetry as a way of expression, inspiration and gratitude. Yaretzi has been the official documentary photographer for several art shows and community events. She will also be this events photographer.
⚪Diego Valencia – Aurelia Valencia’s son born in Oceanside, California. Diego at only eight years old, will be exhibiting his paintings along Aurelia’s art to honor his mother as a warrior. Young Diego has a passion for art and uses painting and drawing as a motivational tool and to channel his energy.
