Guelaguetza como homenaje racial — With 90 years of history, the Guelaguetza or Los lunes del cerro (Mondays on the Hill) is an annual indigenous cultural event in Mexico that takes place in the city of Oaxaca, capital of the state of Oaxaca. Although the celebration is now an important tourist attraction, it also retains deep cultural importance for the peoples of the state and is important for the continuing survival of these Ballet Folklorico de Austin, has one of the most complete and authentic Guelaguetza in Texas. This year we will put together the tradition of eight regions from Oaxaca along by the side of Banda Filarmónica Maqueos from Los Ángeles California in a two hours performance.
Seating — Bring your blankets between 5pm-6:30pm to reserve your spot on the hillside. Ground chairs are permitted on the lawn, but high-back chairs can only be used in ADA seating and at the top of the hillside.
Food — Enjoy food and drink from our concessions stand and food truck.
Getting to the Hillside — We encourage ride sharing to help reduce traffic at the hillside, and at the same time help the planet.
