About this Event

It’s that time of year when many of the animals in the woods are getting ready to snuggle down for the cold winter months ahead. There are a great many things to be done and little time left, so the Gruffalo, his child, and their friends all need help to prepare for the long winter.

Featuring the much loved characters from the Gruffalo, this seasonally inspired event will give children the opportunity to freely explore the Hive. Imaginations will run wild as your little ones delve into the enchanting world of Gruffalo and his friends and explore our wonderful wild garden spaces.

Plus, there will be a craft sheet to take home and a pine cone creature to be made at leisure. And if that wasn’t enough, children will be invited be to enjoy a complimentary cup of hot chocolate from our café on their way out.

So why not join us as we enter the enthralling world of the Gruffalo and make some lasting memories with your family this Autumn.

Age suitability: This event is recommended for children aged between 3-8 years old. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Tickets: Tickets are priced at £4.50 per child, this charge includes the trail, craft items made, pumpkin and standard hot chocolate served from our café. Adults do not require tickets. Children under the age of 18 months do not require tickets.

Access: The event is suitable for prams and wheelchairs.

Time: We estimate the activity will about take about one hour to complete, however families can finish the activity at their own pace so it could be more or less - it’s really up to you.

**Covid Safety Measures**

In planning this event we have carefully adhered to the government guidelines and worked closely with our Health and Safety team to offer the best protection possible for visitors and staff. Below are some of the key measures we have put in place:

1. Staff and customers are advised not come onsite if they or anyone in their households are displaying symptoms of coronavirus.

2. A one-way system for visitors will be in operation.

3. All activity is undertaken outdoors.

4. The handling of resources and the touching of surfaces is minimised.

5. Numbers are restricted with up to 5 families signing onto to a given session and we have installed 2m markers in queue lines at the registration point.

6. Hand sanitizer stations provided at 3 locations around the self-guided trail. Hand washing station available for visitors as they leave the site.

7. In line with the latest Government update, from 14th September we encourage all guests to adhere to the latest guidance and not meet in groups of more than 6 people to help protect you and each other when at the park. Groups of up to 6 people must not mix or form larger groups at our events.

Other Useful Information:

Who are running the sessions? Our sessions are run to a high standard by experienced and highly skilled Wildlife Trust Engagement Officers.

Where is the Hive? The Hive is behind the Cafe on Moss Bank Park, towards the northern end. The area circled at the top is The Hive, just above the Cafe.

What are the facilities? There are toilets in the café including disabled loos and baby changing facilities. These can be accessed by customers wearing face coverings.

Is there parking? Moss Bank Park has plenty of parking provision and parking is free across the site. We recommend that you use the Southern car park which is located at the main entrance off Moss Bank Way. It is a five-minute walk through the park to get to the Hive from this location.

REFUND POLICY

Being an outdoor venue our events can be affected by the weather. Our advice is to come as prepared as possible: warm jumpers and raincoats, wellies, hats, gloves and umbrellas as we will always strive to continue our events – whatever-the-weather.

We have altered the way we do our self-lead activities to make sure that they fit within the strictest local and national restrictions, these were last reviewed on the 5/11/2020 when the most recent lockdown came into effect.

If you cannot attend one of our self-lead activities due to health concerns, you can transfer your ticket to any other activity of equal value free of charge, in the event that our future activities are not yet published you will be issued with a voucher that will be valid for 6 months to be redeemed against our future events.

If for any reason our activity has to be postponed due to factors outside of our control such as new government covid guidance or stormy weather/flooding meaning we close our nature reserve then your booking will be exchanged and you can use it to book onto another event of ours later in the year/early next year. In the event that our future activities are not yet published you will be issued with a voucher that will be valid for 6 months to be redeemed against our future events.

If the activity is postponed or exchanged to a later date and you cannot attend we will be able to refund your ticket minus the third-party online booking fee of £1.
