Learn how to grow your own food by understanding the biological relationships needed to produce healthy nutrient dense plants. This workshop will be held over two Sunday mornings.
Sunday 27th April
• How to choose the right place to set up your food garden
• What are the differences between in ground, raised beds
and planting in pots
• When your garden bed requires shade cloth
• How to create an environment for beneficial soil life
• How plant succession is important to maintain healthy soils
• The significance of companion planting
• Different types of mulch for plants and trees
• What do to if your soil become water repellent
Sunday 4th May
• How to grow from seed
• Plant nutrition requirements from seed to mature plant
• How to harvest all parts of your plant
• Seeds: how to collect, store and propagate
The workshop is delivered in a hands on format so please bring gardening gloves, closed shoes, water bottle and a hat. Time for knowledge sharing will be available after each workshop – feel free to bring snacks to share.
Numbers are limited to 15 people. Parents are welcome to bring along children for free. The content of this workshop is recommended for children 10+
Workshop ticket is $40 (all proceeds go the Glen Forest Community Garden). Please register via the try booking link above.
