Turning Your Household Waste into Worm Compost ‘Black Gold’
About this Event

This hands-on workshop aims to teach the audience the benefits of, and start-to-finish process for, creating one’s own cache of vermicompost; as well as demonstrate how to build a worm bin from two designs currently used by the presenter in her own Philly rowhome. One design is intended for indoor use, using affordable materials found in most discount big-box stores. The second design is an outdoor bin that has proven to sustain a healthy worm population year-round in the City’s climate. Following a discussion containing samples of all things vermicomposting, participants will be shown designs for the outdoor bin, and assist the presenter in constructing a model of the indoor bin design during the workshop.
