Discover the vibrant world of natural pigments in this hands-on workshop, perfect for anyone curious about plants, art, or exploring new ways to connect with nature. Learn about North Central Florida plants that produce stunning dyes, inks, and paints. We’ll dive into the details of growing, harvesting, and saving seeds from these plants, as well as how to work with their unique pigments.During the workshop, you’ll practice making ink and watercolor paint, and there will be plenty of time to create your own art using these rich, natural colors. This experience is open to everyone—whether you’re a seasoned artist, a plant enthusiast, or just eager to try something new. No prior skills or knowledge are required. All supplies are provided, but feel free to bring your own sketchbook or favorite paint brushes if you’d like. You’ll leave with a detailed instructional handout, small samples of the inks and paints you create, and the artwork you’ve made.
The workshop is led by Melissa DeSa, Working Food’s Seed Program Director and an artist who specializes in creating natural pigments from locally sourced plants and materials found, foraged, and grown. All ticket proceeds are donations that directly support Working Food.
