Join us for an inspiring Growing Conversations lunchtime talk at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, where curiosity, culture and the natural world come together.Rooted in the landscape s of Carmarthenshire and the Brecon Beacons, the tale begins with a mysterious woman who rises from the lake and marries a local farmer. When she later returns to the after, she leaves behind her sons and a legacy of healing that would shape Welsh medical history for generations.
This story is recorded in the Red Book of Hergest and linked to real historical figures, including Rhiwallon of Myddfai and his descendants- renowned herbalists and physicians who served both royalty and local communities.
Presented by Sheikh Ahmed this engaging talk weaves together myth, documented history, family lineage and traditional herbal knowledge, bringing fresh insight into a story that continues to resonate today.
Each session includes a warm, seasonal lunch, making this the perfect opportunity to nourish both mind and body while connecting with fellow plant and nature enthusiasts in the beautiful surroundings of the garden.

Mae'r stori hon wedi'i chofnodi yn Llyfr Coch Hergest ac wedi'i chysylltu â ffigurau hanesyddol go iawn, gan gynnwys Rhiwallon o Fyddfai a'i ddisgynyddion - llysieuwyr a meddygon enwog a wasanaethodd y teulu brenhinol a chymunedau lleol.
Wedi'i chyflwyno gan Sheikh Ahmed, mae'r sgwrs ddiddorol hon yn plethu myth, hanes wedi'i ddogfennu, llinach deuluol a gwybodaeth lysieuol draddodiadol ynghyd, gan ddod â mewnwelediad ffres i stori sy'n parhau i atseinio heddiw.
