About this Event
GroWet Seed Collection at RSPB Otmoor
Join Freshwater Habitats Trust Community Engagement Officer, Lizzie Every and Senior Plant Ecologist, David Morris, for a morning of seed collection at RSPB Otmoor. We will be gathering seeds, learning about native plants, and contributing to conservation efforts.
Learn about the habitats where these plants grow and thrive and discover how we at Freshwater Habitats Trust and Oxford Direct Services do our part to maintain these environments for wildlife.
As part of the GroWet project, you will be helping us to collect rare/endangered wetland plant seed to propagate in our Cutteslowe greehouse and from the comfort of your home. This is a unique opportunity to join us for the complete GroWet journey, growing the plants from seed to plant back out into designated freshwater habitats either in Autumn or Spring next year.
Important Information: Once you have attended our GroWet seed collection event, you will be automatically signed on to our volunteer management platform, Assemble. This is where we will communicate with you and provide you with all the information needed to grow your wetland plants.
To Bring: Wellington boots are mandatory! Please bring warm, waterproof clothing and gloves.
All seed collection equipment will be provided. If you require pots, seed trays and compost for growing your seeds at home, we will be able to provide you with these as well.
Meeting Point: RSPB Otmoor car park.
Time: 10:20am ready to head over to the site at 10:30am sharp.
Contact info: If you're running late or are unable to come due to last minute arrangements, please contact Lizzie Every on 07875742102.
