About this Event

Learn how to grow plants from seed and meet other garden enthusiasts as you help us grow plants for the new Dunoon Goes POP drinks garden.

We’ll meet for three sessions and you can book for all three or just one.

Wednesdays, 12.30pm to 2.30pm 27 March, 17 April and 8 May

This event booking is on 8 May 2024.

You need to book for each workshop separately.

What to expect?

This will be a relaxed and practical workshop to sow some seeds for plants we’re growing for the new garden at the POP shop.

You will:

 • Learn about the ideal growing conditions and techniques for growing plants from seed.
 • Learn how to select sustainable gardening materials and think about your impact on the planet in our changing climate.
 • Discover flavour-giving plants that are also good for wildlife.
 • Sow some seeds in a mix of trays, pots, DIY pots and using a soil blocker.
 • Learn how to care for seedlings.
 • Learn about some plants that are used in drinks-making that you could also grow in your garden.
 • Meet other local people interested in learning about gardening.

No experience is necessary. Bring a thin pair of gardening gloves if you have any.

Why are we making a garden?

We’re making a new garden for Dunoon Goes POP, the soft drinks enterprise based at the POP shop in Dunoon. We want to bring soft drinks production back to Dunoon in a way that minimises our impact on the planet and maximises our positive impact on the community.

We’ll do this by connecting people to the fascinating heritage of soft drinks-making through practical workshops, growing ingredients and gathering local heritage stories. All workshops are free and everyone is welcome.

Our funders

Thanks to National Lottery players, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund, we’re running two Dunoon Goes POP projects to help us work towards a socially enterprising approach to local soft drinks production.
