One of life’s best pleasures is to grow and eat your own produce. The flavour and freshness of home-grown fruit, vegetables and herbs are far superior to anything you can buy from the shops.
This class is timed perfectly for the start of the spring sowing and growing season. Come and get inspired.
Not sure what to grow when? Or want to improve your vegetable garden harvest? One of the best things to come out of this class is going home with the confidence to get stuck into it.
I have 30 years of horticultural experience under my belt and there are so many tips that I can’t wait to share with you. Most of them are time saving, one-less-step kind of tips that will make growing produce more do-able, achievable and so satisfying.
Saturday 24th August - 10am to 2pm (SA Time) - $165 per person.
This is a class designed to be hands-on and with heaps of take home seeds sown, cuttings taken and dividings from my garden. It’s not all theory at this place. The best way, that I’ve found to learn is to get my hands dirty!
We start the day by sowing seeds from my extensive collection of regular and heirloom seeds, ready for the season ahead. Some of these varieties are only offered as seeds and you won’t find them as seedlings in nurseries. We’ll cover the techniques needed for successful sowing and I can provide advice on different varieties, pests and diseases, watering and any other questions you might have. I’ve timed this class so that all the punnets of veggies and herbs that we sow will be ready to plant in your garden this spring.
After that, we take cuttings of anything from my garden that you’d like in yours. I have quite a few varieties of rosemary and lavenders and many more. Once again, there’s so many techniques that will have you growing a prolific garden in no time. I also like to share tips on how to graft more than one variety on a fruit tree.
Lastly, we go through techniques of when to plant, how to plant, what spacings, composting, and garden problems.
We start the day with freshly baked morning tea with proper coffee and tea and we end our productive day with a ploughman’s lunch with fresh sourdough bread, chesses, and chutneys and pickles that I’ve made with produce from my garden. It’s a wonderfully productive day and by the end of it, you’ll be taking home punnets, seeds, cuttings and dividing’s ready for your garden and a wealth of knowledge to create your own abundant garden.
