About this Event
Grove Yoga & Meditation is a weekly free class to the members (and their guests) of the Grove at Arlington. This is a closed practice with limited spots and reservation is required. We request that you honor your reservation due to the limited capacity of the space.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to get yourself set up. If you require additional support like a chair or pillows, or anything else, please let the instructor know 1-2 days before the class.
This series will begin with a deep relaxation for 5 minutes, meditation 10 minutes, followed by an introduction to yogic breathing (full yogic breath, belly breathing, prolonged exhalation) for 15 mins, an in-depth instruction of sun salutation and the basic asanas for 45 mins, concluding with deep relaxation for 15 minutes. This practice will be supplemented with a journaling and mindfulness practice (supported by neuroscience) to deepen the experience.
The classes will be taught in a Hatha yoga, trauma-informed style. They are meant to be restorative. There will be options provided for each asana to address the varying levels of practice of the students.
The classes will begin promptly at 7PM EST and end at 8:30 PM EST. Entry will not be permitted once class has begun to respect the space and practice of the fellow students. It is recommended to have a full meal at least 2h before the class.
The classes will be iterative and will build upon teachings from the previous class.
You are asked to bring your own yoga mat (required); yoga blocks, a blanket (or weighted blanked), eye mask or covering, water, socks, and a sweater are optional. Limited yoga blocks are available.
The classes will be taught in English. They can be supplemented with instruction in French or Tamil upon request.
