About this Event
Group Walk: Leicester - Faith through the Ages
Saturday 16 November at 11am
Starting near Wygston's House on Jubilee Square
Finishing in the city centre
Around 90+ minutes, steady pace. 2.4 miles.
For information about the pace of our walks and more, visit our Group Walks information page.
Join us for a walk through the city centre, passing buildings and locations in Leicester which have been associated with a variety of world religions over time. From Roman and Medieval times through the present day, we look at some of the different faiths worshiped in the city, reflecting Leicester's diverse population. Join us to hear interesting facts about a variety of faiths practiced by Leicester people, past and present. We finish in the city centre, near the Clock Tower. At 2.4 miles, this is one of our longer walks, presented by one of our Walk Volunteers with an interest in the subject. It takes place during Inter Faith Week.
Please note: This walk does not cover the theology of the different religions, or go inside the places of worship we pass. For those interested in understanding the theology of different faiths, check out the self-guided Inter Faith Trail leaflet created by the University of Leicester.
