YAMBA will be hosting a night ride at Rocky Ridge next week. The ride starts at around 545pm and will end by 8pm. Please arrive on time to be ready to ride at 545pm. If you will be a little late, please message us and we will swing back thru the lot.
Meet in the front paved lot on the left as you enter the park.
If we have a large group, we will split into 3 groups, one slower casual paced group, one faster paced group, and an intermediate paced group. If the group is small, we will only have a casual group. There will not be any beginner groups during our night rides. Riding at Rocky Ridge is difficult to begin with, and made much more difficult at night. Check back in the Spring when we will start up our beginner weekday rides again.
The casual groups are meant for those familiar with mountain biking, who have some fitness level, and have some experience mountain biking along with some fitness. One will be faster for those who are more skilled with a higher fitness level. One will be a slightly slower pace.
The intermediate group is the most advanced group. These are experienced riders with good fitness. The ride covers all trails in the park and there are almost no stops or breaks.
We recommend two lights, one mounted to your handlebars and one mounted to your helmet. This allows you to see in the direction you are looking as well as in the direction your bike is traveling which are not always the same.
All of our local bike shops can assist you in finding the proper lights and mounts in whatever price point you are seeking. There are very good quality lights out there that do not cost a fortune. We can also assist you in deciding on lights, just reach out to us.
Please note that night riding in the York County Parks is prohibited except during these group rides. YAMBA has obtained special permission from the Parks and is required to purchase a large liability insurance policy in order to gain that permission. Please do not night ride at other times. The rangers will cite you if you are caught at other times. And please do not claim you are riding with YAMBA when there is no group ride occurring. We share our schedule with the Parks.
YAMBA Membership is not required to join a night ride. Feel free to join us just to see if you enjoy it. If you do enjoy it, we ask that you become a YAMBA Member to assist us with the cost of the insurance policy we are required to purchase.
