About this Event
Imagine stepping into a tranquil garden, where each path leads to different plants each providing their own aspect of well-being.
Each area of the garden represents a concept: mats (Gaiam or other), blankets, and meditation cushions invite us to physical grounding while various guided techniques provide tools for deepening this journey. From the tranquility of progressive muscle relaxation to the focused calm of Samatha, together we approach meditation in many ways, including Earth breathing, body scan meditation, looking deeply into our food, and Yidam practice.
Surrounded by the influences of Plum Village, Zen, and Vajrayana (Tibetan Buddhism), the session culminates in Dharma sharing, a group discussion activity rooted in omnipartiality and deep listening, echoing the community spirit of a supportive garden atmosphere.
This gathering not only raises mental health awareness but also offers practical methods to cultivate insight through group (sangha) practice. While the best meditation apps or recordings like those found on Gaia streaming can supplement, it is quite difficult to supplant in-person group practice.
Please remember to bring the following:
- Meditation cushion, bolster or a nice thick pillow
- Meditation mat, yoga mat or thick blanket
- A fruit of your choice (if you bring pineapple, melon or other large fruits, please prepare them beforehand)
