Prophecy foretold this night. The sky will crack, drums will thunder, and strings will scream incantations older than time. On this fateful eve, Groom The Giant emerge from their mountain sanctum to confront a monstrous foe: a four-headed infant beast known only as... Baby Brave.
Armed with distorted sorcery and riffcraft, the wizard-grunge warband will collide headlong with the radiant, shimmering forces of indie-pop heroism. Only one truth will remain: volume. The battlefield? G21 – the secret chamber in The Saddle Inn, Chester.
The cost? Your hearing. The reward? An unforgettable night of live music, chaos, and cosmic foolishness. Space is scarce, and legend waits for no mortal. Secure your ticket now and bear witness to destiny.
Groom The Giant are a four-piece heavy grunge rock band hailing from the hills of Llangollen and Wrexham. Self-proclaimed actual wizards and purveyors of post-traumatic rock, their sound blends grunge-laden grooves with a dose of sludgy stoner rock, all while flailing fearlessly into the depths of psychedelia. The result? Heavy, melodic riffs and hypnotic grooves conjured fresh from the ether.
Their debut single 'Young Machine' dropped in March 2023, followed by the release of their first EP 'Culhwch' in Spring 2024 - a concept record rooted in Celtic folklore and mythology. The band released their follow-up EP Old Toby in September 2025, a musical journey that continues the efforts to codify the myths and legends of Celtic heritage and magical fiction into a format of loud, danceable grunge; with songs inspired by the plagues of King Lludd (from where the Welsh flag gets its iconic red dragon) and explorations of omnipotence, to tributes to Gandalf's favourite tobacco. They performed recently to a packed crowd during their EP Launch Party in Wrexham, as well as at FOCUS Wales International Music Festival and the Llangollen Fringe Festival.
Groom The Giant’s live performances are a visceral experience - heavy, high-energy, and hypnotic. Their shows combine thunderous riffs, soaring melodies, and a magnetic stage presence that leaves audiences shaken and spellbound. Dressed in eye-catching costumes that capture the wild, mystical spirit of the band, they transform every set into something theatrical and otherworldly. Whether conjuring chaos in an intimate venue or commanding a festival stage, they have a knack for winning over new followers with every performance. They've brought their powerful live set to stages at FOCUS Wales, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen Fringe Festival, and more - leaving a trail of wide-eyed converts in their wake.
Baby Brave are an indie pop band from Wrexham, North Wales. Their sound sits somewhere between Wolf Alice and Talking Heads – classic pop songs with soaring melodies, disco rhythms, gut wrenching guitars and a sonic palette that ranges from echo-laden new wave to distorted post-punk. The band received BBC Horizons Launchpad funding to record their debut album, ‘Sugar To The Tongue’, orchestrated by Cardiff-based producer Charlie Francis (R.E.M, Robyn Hitchcock, Future Of The Left), due for release in 2026 with Ode To Records.
The first single off the album ‘Cherry Tomato’ made the BBC Radio Wales A-List. It was playlisted by Rough Trade and KEXP, chosen as a Radio X “X-posure Hot One” – then received high praise and multiple plays on 6Music.
“That’s ace! Wrexham band brilliantly co-opting sounds of disco, new wave and no-wave New York City.”
– Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
“Brilliant! How have I never heard of them?”
– John Kennedy, Radio X
