About this Event
Ready to bridge the 2D and 3D worlds together? In this class, we will combine printmaking and mold making and explore the array of techniques for glass casting.
First, we’ll spend some time designing and carving a block print inspired by Pacific Northwest’s flora and fauna, or experiment with your own design inspiration. Once we’ve made a print or two, we will cast the linoleum block into glass. Methods such as kiln programming, glass annealing, and material safety will be highlighted. We’ll also talk about future more complex discoveries in cast glass such as lost wax casting, box casting, and much more. Students will create both a block print and a cast glass version of their chosen design, in addition to inked block prints on paper!
Skill-building in printmaking, 2 & 3 dimensional design, and glass casting will be emphasized. The format of the class allows for blending of different disciplines to create a one of a kind experience in multiple materials and experimental, tactile techniques.
