As the holidays approach, grief can feel especially heavy. For many, this pain is intensified by estrangement from family or friends we once gathered with. Estrangement grief is often overlooked—even in the mental health field—leaving us feeling isolated in an already complex process.Separation from loved ones rarely happens overnight. It’s usually a slow, painful unraveling over years. By the time the final cord is cut, others may feel relief or even celebrate our decision. Yet, inside, we may carry sadness, disappointment, and a longing to reach out, even when we cannot.
This group offers a supportive space to gather with others who understand. Each Tuesday in November and December, we’ll explore the six needs of mourning estrangement, reflect on what makes this grief uniquely challenging, and practice ways of moving it from the inside out.
Come to as many sessions as you’d like—attendance at every meeting isn’t required to benefit from the community and care this group provides.
