About this Event
Grief is a signal: It illuminates the tender knowledge we already embody, but often do not acknowledge. Grief is political: It points to what is inexcusable in our lives at individual and collective levels. Grief is a portal: It reveals, transforms, and directs us to what is next.
This workshop offers space to navigate societal heartbreak with others who are feeling deeply amidst multiple genocides and environmental collapse. Blending breathwork, altar-making, small-group discussions, and sketching, you’ll be invited to co-create a soft and slow space to begin metabolizing grief in community.
Exploring and holding grief with others is a rebuttal against apathy, against the hyperindividualism that tells us we must honor our grief alone!
As a reminder, this community space is not a substitute for professional support. The ideas grounding this workshop are deeply inspired by activists and writers Malkia Devich-Cyril, Prentis Hemphill, Staci K. Haines, and Alexis Pauline Gumbs.
