Grief needs to move. Move in our bodies, through our bodies. Grief needs to be lovingly witnessed in community. Grieving bodies need release and rest. This class has three parts.
1. We will start with simple yoga movements inspired by Grief Yoga.
2. Then we will come together in a sharing circle to speak and listen from our hearts about our losses.
3. We will end with a guided relaxation.
Grief can look like sadness but can also be anger! Or numbness, guilt or overwhelm. We can feel grief for passed loved ones including pets as well as for many other losses like heart break, illness, empty nesting, climate change, authoritarianism and the list goes on. It can be a lot to carry on our own.
I have been a Satyananda yoga teacher and led ecological grief workshops for over 20 years. I am also a trainied social health facilitator with SeekHealing.
This class is not a substitute for professional councelling. It is not a place where we will fix problems or give advice. The intention to create a safe communcal place to show up with our whole beings, the messy and uncomfortable, and to connect in our vulnerability. The class also honours that our issues are in our tissues and we will explore how we can notice and move with feelings and sensations.
