We're having a Club premiere this Friday, 27th September, by welcoming the Gramophone Jass Band!This ensemble will play instead of Greyfriars Society Orchestra, as previously advertised. But fear not, both bands share a lot of the musicians! You will still get superb early Jazz and Swing music for listening and dancing but, instead of the tuba, the rhythm section will be led by the piano. Come along to listen to a band that only rarely performs in Edinburgh!
Also a septet and longer in business, the Gramophone Jass Band consists of Ollie Marge on guitar and as vocalist, Alex Hill on piano, Lachlan Fotheringham on clarinet, Paddy Darley on trombone, Seamus Conacher on guitar and John Youngs on upright bass plus a surprise drummer.
The Edinburgh Jazz 'n Jive Club offers on Fridays live Jazz music in a relaxed club house atmosphere, with a bar and an excellent, wooden dance floor. The music is generally suitable for dancing Foxtrot and Swing (Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa). Come along to listen to superb Jazz and to dance the evening away!
No need to book in advance, just come along! The entry fee is £12 for non-members and £10 for members. Entry is free for accompanying carers and accompanied children. The fee can be paid at the door by card and cash. The main entrance is from Bangholm Terrace, with step-free access from Warriston Gardens corner Inverleith Row.
