This summer, join us for Gretna Kids Playhouse's first ever Teen Theatre Workshop! (Looking for the younger kids' (ages 6-12) workshop? Click here!) For two weeks, performers will study the craft of acting through theatre games, one-on-one coaching sessions, and rehearsals - all culminating in two performances of Don Zolidis' hilarious The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon. In this wild, fast-paced re-telling of over 200 classic fairy tales, actors will hone their comedic skills and learn about working collaboratively, as an ensemble. At GKP, all performers have their moment in the spotlight, regardless of experience or skill level.
The workshop will be held at the beautiful Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts (Huey P. Long Ave. and 4th St.) and is open to performers ages 12-16. The workshop runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, June 5-16. We will have two performances of the show on Saturday, June 17, at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Actors must be available to participate in BOTH performances.
A t-shirt will be provided with registration. Additional t-shirts will be available for purchase.
Regarding payment: A discounted sibling rate of $225 is available for families with two or more participating children with the purchase of one child at the regular $275 rate. Use promo code SECONDCHILD for each additional child in either session.
Regarding cancellations: The fee consists of a $100 nonrefundable deposit + a balance that is refundable until 5/5/2023. No refunds will be issued after 5/5. After submitting payment, you will be provided a link to complete your registration. Please note that, due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, we reserve the right to cancel the workshop on or before 5/5/23. Should cancellation due to COVID-19 occur, GKP families will be refunded in full.
A need-based scholarship will be available to one participant, thanks to the generosity of the Post Backstage. Deadline for application is April 15. You will find the scholarship application here.
