Join us for a special evening celebrating the timeless music of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, brought to life by acclaimed jazz vocalist Greta Matassa.
In the Pacific Northwest—where she built her career—Greta is one of the region’s most beloved artists. She has been named Best Jazz Vocalist in the Northwest eight times by readers of Earshot Jazz magazine, most recently in 2021, and was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2014.
Respected voices in the jazz world sing her praises: Seattle jazz maven Jim Wilke highlights her “fearlessness in approaching material” that makes her “like an instrumentalist in a jam session,” while renowned bassist and producer John Clayton calls her “one of the best jazz singers we have to boast about these days.”
Her remarkable 40-year career has taken her to stages across Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and beyond. In 2016, she performed with Clayton’s ensemble in a centennial tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, cementing her reputation as one of the great interpreters of jazz.
With 11 acclaimed recordings, including her latest release Portrait on Origin Records, Greta continues to captivate critics and audiences alike. Beyond performing, she has also become one of the most respected jazz educators of her generation, mentoring students from Seattle to Japan, Alaska to Kauai, and Chicago to New York.
Whether on stage or in the classroom, Greta’s artistry and devotion to the music ensure that the legacy of jazz—and of icons like Ella and Billie—lives on.
