The first hour of each evening is dedicated to the African Marketplace!

“I love Kwanzaa because I love when they do the dancing and the drums!” said 5 year-old Nation. Kwanzaa is an annual seven-day cultural celebration, beginning each year on December 26. It was developed by Dr. Maulana Karenga and first observed in 1966. It honors the heritage of African-Americans and others of the African Diaspora. Kwanzaa celebrations emphasize the role of family and community in African-American culture by embracing seven principles called the Nguzo Saba: Unity, Self-determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Creativity, Purpose, and Faith.
“This festival is supported by a Festival Grant facilitated by The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, a division of the Designated County Partner, with funding from Guilford County and the North Carolina Arts Council.
