This evening features former finance professional-turned-commercial passive solar greenhouse operator, Rob Lyle, who started greenshaus and came to be known locally as "The Lettuce Man." He grows hydroponic lettuce that sells in the local grocery stores and is eager to share his experience with others – down to the details of what it takes to run this business successfully. From integrating into the local market and differentiating products to tackling the unique challenges of greenhouse operations, we’ll hear firsthand insights on building a thriving enterprise, and the lessons learned along the way.
We’ll also explore how engaging the community in these operations can create lasting impacts, support local food systems, and drive community development. He will share about why he believes a "hyperlocal" food system model is achievable and in the best interest of communities.
