A 6 week course each Monday starting on Monday 22nd September. (Please note course dates at the bottom). Build your confidence using hand tools in a relaxed setting with indoor facilities & outdoor greenspace. We will make a shaving horse for the hub, using a pole lathe, draw knife & other hand tools, & you will make your own beautiful small ‘slab & stick’ stool made from Ash wood cut from the hub garden, to take home. Bring a packed lunch if you'd like to stay afterwards for a social lunch in the hub. Tea and Coffee available in the accessible kitchen.Cost: £150 inc. materials.
Why green wood working? Unseasoned wood is easier to work, meaning hand tools can be used in preference to power tools, making it a therapeutic activity. Working with wood connects us to natural resources and how we use them. Unseasoned wood can be sourced from coppiced woods or from tree surgery waste, which are renewable resources.
