We are happy to share that Kushok will be offering the Green Tara Empowerment (Initiation) on February 27, 2021. This is a VIRTUAL event and will take place via Zoom. GREEN TARA
Tara is the primary female deity in Tibetan Buddhism, and has 21 emanations (The 21 Taras). As Green Tara, she is a dynamic, fast-acting deity, who is able to overcome all obstacles. Green Tara is often supplicated on behalf of those in dangerous situations. Green Tara is Her principal emanation.
Those who receive the Green Tara Empowerment are able to practice Green Tara Sadhana in full (self-generating), and receive more benefit from the practice. On a spiritual level, Green Tara is able to remove obstacles on the path to enlightenment; and on a material level, Green Tara can bring success in one’s work and personal life.
THE EMPOWERMENT
An empowerment (initiation) is a ceremony where the initiation master, based on his own realization gained in retreat, transmits the connection to the deity and gives us permission to engage in regular meditation practice on this deity. It creates a bridge between us, the teacher and the deity, introducing us to the true nature of Green Tara’s wisdom mind and allowing us to receive the full blessings of engaging in this meditation practice.
This empowerment will be very special as our dharma centre has a strong connection to Green Tara through our years of dedicated practice dating back to the time of our founding teacher Geshe Kalden and continuing through to the present day when we recited Green Tara praises to remove obstacles to building the Alberta Centre for Peace and Meditation.
DONATION TO SOCIETY
There is no fee for empowerments at Gaden Samten Ling. Within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition it is customary to offer a donation to the hosting centre in gratitude for the opportunity to receive this blessing. The suggested minimum donation is $25.

OFFERING TO VAJRA MASTER
In accordance with Buddhist etiquette there will be an opportunity at the end of the empowerment to make a personal offering to Kushok. The amount offered is up to each individual, a customary offering would be anywhere from $25 and up for an empowerment. We will share details on how to make this offering online during the empowerment.
REGISTRATION
Pre-registration is required. Please register by Thursday, February 25, 2021. The Zoom links will be sent to all registrants via email within 24 hours of the event.
