Breathe in the crisp October air and capture the warm hues of Autumn in your sketchbook at beautiful Paxton House in the Scottish Borders, where we’ll explore different ways of sketching autumn leaves and seasonal colour. Day & Time: Thursday 9th October 2025, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Venue: Paxton House, Paxton, Berwick-upon-Tweed TD15 1SZ
In this 2-hour workshop we'll do some simple drawing exercises together to warm-up our hands and eyes, helping us to record what we see, then work through a couple of tutorials that will give us ideas for how to capture the forms and colours of Autumn. There'll be plenty of time to get on with some sketching in the grounds, before coming back for a (voluntary) crit/throw down.
This workshop will take place outside in the Paxton House gardens and grounds (although if the weather is inclement, we will have use of their marquee). Dress suitably for outdoor walking and sketching, including sensible footwear for walking on different types of ground.
Please bring a reusable cup/bottle with your own drinks. Refreshments can also be purchased from The Stables Tearoom.
This workshop is one in my Green Sketch Club series - ideal for anyone who has taken my ‘Introduction to Green Sketching’ class, or has some basic drawing and painting experience, but would like to do more sketching outside with a focus on observing and recording nature.
