The convening will uplift the importance of well-designed school campuses and their role in supporting community health.
About this Event

We are excited to bring together joint use and greening experts who have extensive experience working to better integrate schools into communities. The convening will include panel discussions on the benefits of creating more accessible and green campuses. Speakers will also share best practices and strategies from communities around California.

The LSYC is a group of nonprofit organizations, educators and community members who create and advocate for equitable access to nature and healthy school environments to support: safe outdoor education, physical and mental health, social and emotional well-being, and climate resilience for Los Angeles County’s public-school students and communities. Founded in 2019, we came together in response to the prevalence of asphalt schoolyards and heat island effects in LAUSD schools and the lack of access to nature in surrounding neighborhoods.
