Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMPs) is an educational program for people working in lawn-care and landscape maintenance. The GI-BMP program teaches environmentally safe landscaping practices that help conserve and protect Florida's ground and surface waters.
This workshop is designed to provide training in Best Management Practices (BMPs) for anyone working in the lawn, landscape, pest control, municipal or private areas. Basics of the different types of grasses will be given, how to plant properly, how to prune properly, the protection of mangroves, irrigation and its regulations, and calculation of the application of fertilizers based on local ordinances and science. Finally, pesticide application laws, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), personal protective equipment (PPE) and what to do if there are spills will be discussed.
The workshop will also provide 4 FDACS CEUs: 487/482 Core (2 CEUs), Private Applicator (2), Ornamental & Turf (2), Limited Urban Fertilizer (2), Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (2), Limited Lawn & Ornamental (2), Commercial Lawn & Ornamental (2).
