Green City Blues present a friendly, informal evening of Blues dancing, with LIVE music from the spectacular Mat Walklate and Alex Haynes.
We will be starting by covering some of the fundamentals of dancing to live Blues music in an all levels, everyone-dances-with-everyone-else class. We then all get to dance the evening away to gorgeous live Blues music from Mat Walklate and Alex Haynes. You can check them out here: https://alexhaynesmusic.com/walklatehaynes/. No experience of dancing and no partner necessary. Our aim is to get people who are completely new to Blues dancing out on the dance floor and having fun, whilst also giving people who are more familiar with Blues a chance to refresh and hone their skills. If you do other kinds of dancing you'll notice improvements in the quality of your movement there too. Whether you usually only dance alone in your kitchen, or if you're dancing every other week day, there'll be something for you.
Exact timings to be confirmed, but the following is likely: doors at 6.15pm, class 6.30-7:30pm. After the class we'll get a short break to get a drink while the band sets up, and then they'll play two brilliant sets, with DJing between and after.
Entry is just £10/£7. We want to make dancing accessible to everyone, so we run a self-selecting concessions systems. Whenever money is tight feel free to pay the discounted rate. We will be accepting cash or card payments on the door.
Half of any profits will go to Client Earth. In their own words: "we use the power of law to bring about systemic change that protects the earth for – and with – its inhabitant. The other half we will re-invest in the Sheffield Blues Dance scene, allowing us to do things like putting on more band nights!
