Spring 2026 auditions will be held on Saturday, January 10th beginning at 9am for Tenor and Bass parts only. You will be contacted with a specific audition time in late July or early August. Due to the nature of our audition schedule, "walk-ins" will not be accepted. Auditions will be held in Room 63 in Frasier Hall on the UNC campus, located at 1710 9th Avenue. Room 63 is on the ground level on the north side just left of the main (middle) stairwell. The best place to enter is through the north (or "right") circle drive entrance on the east side of the building (where 9th Avenue and 17th Street meet). Street parking is available, as is the “K-West” lot southeast of Frasier. Parking is not enforced on the weekend for this lot.
For the audition:
You will need a prepared solo number, such as an art song, an opera aria, a musical theatre number, a hymn, or the National Anthem. Memorization is not required.
A pianist will be provided at the audition, so please bring a copy of your chosen solo number, or, if you have a PDF or ForScore-compatible file, please email it to the Administrator at least 3 days prior to your audition.
Please plan to audition with accompaniment; a cappella auditions are not encouraged.
Please arrive “warmed up,” as we cannot guarantee the use of alternate spaces in Frasier for warm-up purposes.
In addition to your prepared piece, you will be asked to sight-sing an unfamiliar hymn or traditional choral repertoire.
You will be evaluated on the performance of your prepared piece, vocal quality, range, intonation, and sight-singing ability.
