Join the Greater Manchester FASD Network for a special summer Brain Base just for kids with FASD in Greater Manchester!
About this Event

Please join us for a fun and informative 3 days specially organised for the Greater Manchester FASD Network by National FASD, FASD Greater Manchester and Seashell, at the Seashell campus.

• For children and young people (5+) in Greater Manchester with FASD or suspected FASD (i.e. a likely history of prenatal alcohol exposure and a medical professional thinks they might have FASD)
• Unique opportunity to build on their many strengths to better understand themselves through the ‘world class’ Me and My FASD toolkit presented at primary/ introductory level
• Explore neurodiversity through song, dance and play led by Flis Kirk, Classic FM's 2018 SEN Music Teacher of the Year and a team of experienced leaders who ‘get’ FASD
• Parallel sessions for parents/carers (we require at least one parent/carer on site at all times)
• Learn from and with adults with FASD
• Workshops promoting self-care, advocacy and (dare we say it?) fun
• Cross-over sensory breaks where young and old learn and laugh together

Highlights

• Enjoy messy play, arts & crafts
• Role play coping strategies
• Explore the Me and My FASD toolkit
• Relax, knowing your loved one is learning from/with others who understand their brain wiring
• Every child who attends gets a Me and My FASD toolkit (worth >£75) and a subscription to the Me and My FASD Club/Living FASD magazine Series 2 (£30 value)

The video above shows some of the feedback from National FASD's first Brain Base in 2018. Another was held at Seashell in 2019. This year's will be the first since COVID and development of the Me and My FASD toolkit, made with input from people with FASD and their families. We couldn't be more thrilled to see what fun we will have!
