“It was a song that brought me out of the Smoky Mountains to Nashville. It was a song that has taken me everywhere I wanted to go.”
And oh, the places she’s been! From the tiny two-room cabin in Tennessee where she was raised...to the Grand Ole Opry where she made debut at age 13...to the top of the country charts and then the pop charts...to the screens at your local cineplex...and beyond. She was even commemorated on the Hollywood Walk of Fame…twice!
No wonder Dolly has called herself “the little engine that did!”
Join Great Moments in Vinyl as we proudly pay tribute to the remarkable Dolly Parton with a set of music that will take you from her first singles on country radio to the blockbuster hits that made her beloved around the world. And as always, we’ll also give you the stories behind the songs and the musicians who created them.
Great Moments in Vinyl plays Dolly Parton, August 31st at The Venue. Featuring a band of GMiV veterans and talented newcomers: Bree Gordon, Sadie Rose Glaspey, Sophie Hafer, Chris Corsale, Greg Rapp, and bandleader and storyteller William Lindsey Cochran.
