Great Mistresses - Paula Rego: ‘Come to Me’ (Jane Eyre series) and ‘The Policeman’s Daughter’

Back by popular demand, as part of our Great Mistresses’ series, we’ll be learning by copying Paula Rego! 

For those who missed the last one, you can learn how to paint in acrylics by copying ‘The Policeman’s Daughter’ or another option is ‘Come to Me’, an etching Rego made more recently,  based on characters in Jane Eyre. Both artworks are an opportunity to develop skills using either fine liner pen and watercolour washes, or painting in acrylic to draw the female figure.  

The more you look, the more intriguing are Paula Rego’s sinister narratives. Virago’s ‘Great Mistress’ sessions are a way to develop art techniques and learn from some amazing female artists by copying their artworks.
