About this Event
A creative ceramics workshop for girls aged 13–16 to explore identity, personal stories, and self-expression through clay. Includes guided conversations, hand-building techniques, and inspirational art sharing. Teacher is me Sanna Pöyhönen, who work now as a sculpture artist after a career in IT.
Today, many girls grow up under enormous pressure - social expectations, social media, and constant comparison. In all that noise, it can be hard to hear your own true needs, interests, and stories.
I first started working with clay when I was 15. Back then, art helped me find my voice and identity. Decades later, at 45, clay was crucial help when I was recovering from severe burnout and felt like I had lost myself again.
I’ve learned that art is a powerful way to reconnect with who you really are. Clay especially - tactile, calming, forgiving, and full of surprises - gives you permission to express your story, not the one others tell about you.
That’s why I’m organizing a ceramics workshop for girls aged 13–17 on Jan 18, 2026.
Alongside learning hand-building techniques and creating your own ceramic piece, we’ll talk about the stories we carry and how they shape our sense of identity.
I’ll also share my own journey through my Great Ladies series—artworks born during my burnout recovery, inspired by the pain points I had hidden since my teenage years. Through this series, that pain transformed into strength.
Together, we’ll explore questions like:
- Do women share certain unspoken, collective pains?
- Do we see ourselves fairly - or more harshly than others?
- And can we learn to change that perspective?
I hope this workshop becomes a space for creativity, reflection, courage, and connection.
If you know a girl who would benefit from a gentle, creative, supportive space, send this to her! Registration is now open - spots are limited to max 6 girls.
