About this Event
The park is proud to be a part of this annual birdwatching event by providing a place for you to participate. Joining in is easy; just spend 15 minutes (or more) on one of the four days identifying and counting the birds you see and hear. Then, submit your bird list to be part of a global movement to better understand how bird populations are doing.
To assist you, there will be a ranger station set up at the Lakeside Snack Bar on Saturday, February 14 and on Sunday, February 15 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with information on various easily reached bird habitats in the park. A variety of habitats means a wider variety of birds to count. Free brochures and checklists will be available with quick info to get you started.
We'll also have field guides to peruse, but think about downloading a phone app such as Merlin Bird ID and eBird help with bird identification and documentation, respectively. For more information on this national event, visit the Great Backyard Bird Count website.
