Grayson Perry’s Art Club Exhibition | 2 December 2022 – 16 April 2023Visit this major exhibition by much-loved British artist Grayson Perry, here at Midlands Arts Centre.
This exhibition features artworks chosen by Grayson and guest celebrities during season three of the popular TV series, Grayson’s Art Club.
The programme by Swan Films for Channel 4 began in lockdown, encouraging audiences across the nation to express their creativity through art. During each episode, members of the public, established artists and celebrities have been invited to make artworks in response to the different themes – in the current series, the focus has been on Love, Heroes and Heroines, Normal Life, Inside my Head, Holidays and The Future.
Artworks submitted by the public have covered a wide variety of mediums, such as photography, painting, textiles and sculpture. These artworks feature in the exhibition at MAC, alongside pieces by Grayson and Phillipa Perry, and celebrities such as Birmingham’s very own Joe Lycett – who made an appearance in the final episode.
Grayson Perry said:
“MAC in Birmingham is the perfect venue for our third Art Club exhibition. I always have a great time in this city and suspect it may be the coolest place in the UK.”
