Important Note: In the event a federal government shutdown is in effect on October 15, this advisory council meeting will be cancelled and re-scheduled to a later date.NOAA’s Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary (GRNMS) Advisory Council will hold its fall meeting on Oct. 15, 2025 at the Marine Resources Research Institute Auditorium at 217 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, South Carolina.
The meeting is free and open to the public for in-person attendance or virtual attendance via an on-line GoToWebinar registration link provided on our website
A public comment period is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Anyone wishing to address the council should join the webinar no later than 1:45 p.m. in case the meeting progresses quickly and the public comment period begins earlier than expected.
Agenda highlights include a report and recommendations from the Blake Plateau Resolution Subcommittee and consideration and potential adoption of a resolution promoting expansion of GRNMS to include specific deep-water coral habitats on the submerged Blake Plateau. The council will also receive updates from the sanctuary superintendent regarding ongoing sanctuary programs and administration, and from the director for the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, GRNMS Chapter about current and future non-profit activities supporting the sanctuary.
