Herrin City Library’s upcoming guest speaker will be a special Halloween presentation! Grave Dowsing with Brian Bailey

Brian Bailey is an Illinois licensed funeral director and embalmer. He is a 1988 graduate of SIU – Carbondale, College of Technical Careers - Mortuary Science and Funeral Service program. He has been the owner/operator of Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna since 1997.
The ability to dowse (or “witch” graves, as some refer to the process) is a natural rather than learned trait. Brian has utilized his experience in grave dowsing to assist a number of area families, as well as cemeteries, in locating unmarked gravesites. This information has also proven useful for genealogists and those researching family histories.
Brian enjoys sharing his gift with others. Many are pleasantly surprised to find that they possess this skill also.
Note: Please meet at the main Stotler Street entrance to the cemetery near the flag pole. You are welcome to bring your own chair, though we will have a few extra chairs available.
The event is presented by the Herrin History Room and is free and open to the public.
