About this Event
This guided experience invites you to consciously attune your senses to the soundscape around you, paying attention to everyday noises – traffic, birds, footsteps, the wind, etc.
This practice of focused listening will take you through the process to acknowledge each sound without judgment, from the subtle rustle of leaves to distant human activity, bringing you into the present moment, and build self awareness.
As we perceive this attentive silence and collectively absorb the environment's acoustic layers, we foster a sense of interconnectedness and shared presence with our surroundings, nurturing the individual calm but also a deeper understanding of our collective existence through our shared soundscape.
Guided By
Louis Quek is a sound artist and sound designer who navigates multiple realms simultaneously, exploring the intricate interplay between sound, space, and perception. Currently pursuing an MA in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK), he is deepening his understanding of sound art and its transformative role as a bridge between the senses and its implications. Through the discovery and experimentation of diverse sonic textures and concepts, he continues to expand his artistic practice.
His work is driven by the phenomenological approach to perceiving environments and introspective spaces. Through evolving textures, fractured rhythms, and algorithmic sequences, he crafts evocative sonic experiences that invite listeners to reconsider their connection to their surroundings and inner worlds. His work transcends the ordinary, weaving the material and the metaphysical into a unified auditory journey.
