The Grapevine is spoken word performance for adults and teens, celebrating the timeless art of the story, hosted by storytellers Renée Brachfeld and Tim Livengood.

ABOUT OUR TELLERS:
April Armstrong was raised by parents with lovely singing voices, and her father was a natural storyteller. The acting bug bit in second grade, playing a lovesick Martian in a musical. She knew that she was destined to entertain. Her mother told her to stop being so dramatic. Good thing she didn't listen. April now weaves melodies and words in a refreshing and compelling style of multi-cultural folktelling, including African-American and Latino stories. Queen Nur follows the griot tradition, with stories that capture historic victories, celebrate folkloric tradition, and speak to the essence of humanity. She has performed in 36 states, Ghana, Cameroon, and Canada, at such venues as the opening of the Smithsonian NMAAHC and as Emcee for the NEA Heritage Awards. She received the 2020 National Association of Black Storytellers’ Zora Neale Hurston Award. More about Queen Nur at http://queennur.com
