SSAF invites you to the announcement of the grantee of theVivan Sundaram Grant for Installation Art 2024, and a lecture by Charles Esche, chaired by Geeta Kapur.
on Tuesday, 21 May 2024, 6–8 pm, at Seminar Halls 1, 2 & 3, Kamaladevi Complex, India International Centre, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi (Tea will be served at 5.30 pm).
The grant, established in 2019 and formerly known as the SSAF Installation Art Grant, has been re-instituted as the Vivan Sundaram Grant for Installation Art in 2024. Named after Vivan Sundaram (1943–2023), artist-activist and co-founder of SSAF, the grant is premised on the fact that Indian art has been energized since the 1990s by what is broadly termed installation art, but that there has been limited infrastructural and institutional support for such projects. SSAF will support an individual artist or an artists’ collective with a grant of up to INR 8 lakhs to conceptualize and produce a new work within the broad parameters of installation art.
JURY for the Vivan Sundaram Grant for Installation Art 2024:
Charles Esche (Chair), Nancy Adajania, Shilpa Gupta.
The announcement of the grantee will be preceded by a lecture by Charles Esche, titled ‘The life of installation as a decolonising possibility’.
