Forget March Madness, because the Burleson Animal Shelter is bringing you "Grannys" versus "BFFs" in a hilarious, heartwarming and retro basketball showdown from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 29 at Hughes Middle School, 300 SW Murphy Rd.
The "BFFs" team is comprised of members of the Burleson Fire Department, while the “Grannys” are a nationwide league made of women over the age of 50. The event will raise funds for the Burleson Animal Shelter's Injured Animal Fund.
The game will be played in 1920s style 6-on-6 games on three courts. Admission is $5 at the door for ages 6 and older. The shelter will also accept donations of dog and cat toys. Parking is available at the back of the school, with entry through door 12.
