Grange Co-op invites you to join us as we learn and re-learn the basics of gardening. In this introductory class, we’ll cover the differences in plant classes (such as annuals, biennials, and perennials), the best soils and potting mediums for various applications, USDA zones and climate hardiness, how different kinds of plants grow and are sold (bulbs, trees, bare root, containerized, etc), and finally summarize fertilizer labels. We'll also discuss what you should know about macro- and micronutrients, the difference between synthetic and organic fertilizers, and what other goodies they may hold!Attendees who wish to participate in a soil analysis activity can bring two small soil samples from their garden - one dry, and one in a 5:1 solution (5 parts water to 1 part soil, by approx. volume). Limited to first 20 respondents.
