Come get lifted with an evening of spoken word. Cryout Cave is a premier poetry venue in Newark's Ironbound section, and provides an intimate setting for artists and attendees alike.
Patrice aka Poetress is a native of Newark, NJ who wrote her first poem at just 12 years old. After honing her skills at classic poetry veues such as Bogies in East Orange, Euphoria Cafe in Newark, Serengeti Plains in Montclair and the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Poetress became a semi-finalist for NJ's grand slam poetry team in 2002 and 2003 consecutively. More than 20 years later, she is now an educator and mom to a 2-year old. In this, her first full show in almost 10 years, Poetress is eager to share new material as well as some crowd favorites.
