About this Event
Filmed over the course of two years, GRAND PRIZE is an intimate anthology series exploring the evolution and impact of ballroom culture in Canada. While the movement was birthed in Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities in the US, this documentary highlights how Toronto’s diverse immigrant populations have infused the scene with a rich, unique perspective, carving out a distinct ballroom identity for the city.
This isn’t just a film about performance; it’s a story of survival and soul.

- The Dialogue: Beyond the runway, we explore how Ballroom serves as a vital pillar for mental well-being and a sanctuary for those who have built a home within its houses.
- The Community: Connect with the members of the ballroom scene featured in the film during our post-screening discussion.
