The Burley Griffin serve up folk-infused Americana, led by Canberra-based songwriter and frontman, Evan Buckley. Having spent his childhood waiting for the rapture in a strict fundamentalist cult, Buckley’s songs are a poignant reflection on loss of faith, marriage, and certainty, balanced out by the ecstatic freedom found in embracing life’s unpredictability.
Live, The Burley Griffin cover a sweeping emotional range - gentle introspection swells into searing crescendos and complex harmonies, often culminating in sing-a-longs and hip-shaking frenzies on the dancefloor. Establishing themselves as an act to keep an eye on, they’ve earned support slots for Australian icons like Mia Dyson and Augie March, and appearances at major festivals including The National Folk Festival and Jindyfest.
